This research analyzes the difference in form formation of memory and experience in architectural types shaped over an extended period of time by analyzing Aldo Rossi's Analogical Architecture and Habraken's Form of Understanding. In the present era dominated by non-symbolic architecture since modern times, I would like to suggest that architecture types, which are considered only historical heritage, can create a collective community in the flow of the times and become a source of new shape generation. Although both Rossi and Habraken focused on architectural types shaped over extended historical periods, they strongly differ in their interpretations of form generation and methodologies. Rossi emphasized memory by forming architectural types into symbolic monuments through abstraction, whereas Habraken focused on experience by forming architectural types into singular forms that are generated and transformed according to the actions and needs of users. To this end, we will analyze the difference in typological shape generation based on memories and experiences of Rossi and Habraken using historical form precedents, and reexamine the typological meaning of architectural form generation through this. |
