This study examines the feasibility of using existing cores in the vertical extension remodeling of aged apartments. It evaluates key factors from legal, engineering, and construction perspectives. To assess feasibility, a flat-type apartment was analyzed with and without the existing core. In terms of spatial planning, the sizes of shared areas and building areas were compared. From a structural perspective, the amount of demolished and newly constructed load-bearing walls was quantitatively analyzed, supplemented by qualitative verification through expert review. For construction, key remodeling elements were assessed based on expert validation. The results indicate that from a spatial planning perspective, utilizing existing cores improves spatial efficiency and reduces building area. From an engineering standpoint, it minimizes the demolition and reconstruction of load-bearing walls. In terms of construction, important considerations include extending the core¡¯s lower structure and its connection to the underground parking lot. While incorporating existing cores in apartment remodeling presents both benefits and challenges, it offers a viable approach to enhancing spatial efficiency and engineering stability with careful planning and consideration. |
