(Background) The environment surrounds humans and constantly interacts throughout their life cycle. Various fields such as psychology, sociology, and anthropology must be grafted into the architectural space to explore the relationship between the environment and humans. Therefore, academic efforts through various analyses and verifications are required for design and planning that reflect human behavior in the environment. (Purpose) Limited to affordance theory, an ecological approach to support smooth human behavior in the environment. Many affordance-based studies have been conducted, but the number of studies related to architectural space is remarkably small compared to other fields, and trend research uses the method of surveying by period. Therefore, this study intends to present the direction of future research on affordance theory by grasping the main contents and deriving problems and implications centering on the methodology of research on affordance theory in architectural space. (Method) This study is limited to KCI-registered publications, domestic studies published by 2022, and overseas studies registered in SCOPUS and Web of Science. First, keywords for domestic affordance theory research, research target space, data collection, and analysis methods are analyzed as a research method. Second, analyze overseas studies by deriving the limitations of the affordance theory through domestic research trends. Third, analysis is conducted focusing on research methodology in overseas research. (Conclusion) The main conclusion is that the keyword of domestic research was human-centered design, and qualitative research was conducted the most. In overseas studies, infants have been studied the most and are judged to be strongly influenced by the environment. Mixed studies were the most common, and due to the affordance theory, which is difficult to evaluate quantitatively due to its direct influence on perception and behavior, an empirical analysis was attempted through various investigation methods and analyses. |
