부산역은 철도 기능을 수행하는 공공시설로서, 근대도시 형성의 기틀이 되었다. 본 연구는 공공시설로서 부산역을 대상으로 일제 식민지기 입지 선정부터 현재까지의 변천과정 고찰을 통해, 부산역 및 주변지역에 대한 도시계획적, 건축적, 사회적 특성을 분석하였다. 이를 위하여, 지난 120여 년간의 공간 변화를 야기한 계기적 사건들과 도시의 변화를 파악할 수 있는 지도와 지적도 및 사진을 수집하였고, 관련 법과 제도, 부산시의 발간 보고서, 신문사료 등을 분석하였다. 연구의 결과로는 첫째, 부산역은 국가정책, 부산의 도시계획에 따라 발전한 도시인프라 시설로서, 시대상을 반영한 결과물이라는 것이다. 둘째, 부산역은 지역의 랜드마크로서 공간적 확장을 통해 건축물 군을 형성하였음을 확인하였다. 마지막으로 부산역은 공공시설로서 과거 단일의 역무 기능에서 상업, 문화, 정보 교류의 장으로 사회적 역할이 확장되었음을 분석하였다. 본 연구는 부산역의 입지 특성에 따른 지역 재생의 거점 공간으로서, 맥락적 이해를 바탕으로 도시계획적 함의를 도출하였다. 또한, 지역의 발전적 변화를 위한 계획 수립에 있어, 관련 기록 및 근거 규명을 위한 학술 자료의 모색이라는 점은 연구의 의의라 할 것이다. |

Busan Terminal is a public railroad station that represents a foundational aspect of a modern city. This study examines urban planning,
architectural, and social characteristics of Busan Terminal and its surrounding areas by reviewing the terminal’s transition processes from
selecting its location during the Japanese colonial era to its current status as a public facility. Maps and photographs were collected to
identify the significant events and changes that occurred in the city over the last 120 years. In addition, various laws, systems, newspaper
data, and publication reports related to Busan were examined. Upon analysis, Busan Terminal was first found to reflect the times as an urban
infrastructure facility developed in accordance with the national policy and Busan’s urban plan. It was a regional landmark that produced a
district of buildings through spatial expansion. As a public facility, Busan Terminal evolved from being a mere station to a social hub for
commerce, culture, and information exchange. Based on contextual understanding, this study determined that the urban planning implications
for regional regeneration were consistent with the local characteristics of Busan Terminal. Furthermore, this study is significant in terms of
developing a change strategy for regional development due to its relevant academic data. |
