본 연구는 래리 벨의 둥지 박스를 21세기 현대정신분석학을 대표하고 있는 대상관계이론을 응시이론에 적용하여, 그 속에 내재되어 있는 건축적인 특성들을 도출하고, 이를 현대건축들과 비교분석하는 데 연구의 목적을 둔다. 본 연구의 결과, 첫째, 초기 둥지 박스 작품인 'Pacific Red Ⅱ‘는 6개의 대형 오브제와 관람자들간의 다양한 시선의 반복을 통해 여러 중추적 시니피앙이 발생하면서 인간 정신의 의식구조 확대가 반영되었다. 둘째, ‘Venice Fog Ⅱ’에서 오브제 숫자를 2개로 줄이고 태양광을 유입한 이후 ‘Aspen Blues’에 이르러 둥지박스는 태양광의 내사에 대응하여, 안쪽의 오브제가 내면의 빛으로서 투사에서 역할을 한다. 셋째, 대상관계이론의 관점에서 ‘Pacific Red Ⅱ’ 이후 둥지 박스 작품은 하나의 어머니에서 다른 타자의 대상으로 확대되면서 우울적 자리를 벗어나는 단계로 볼 수 있다. 넷째, 피터 줌터의 쿤스트하우스 브레겐츠는 'Aspen Blues'처럼 우울적 자리를 넘어서 주체적인 자아를 중심으로 인간 정신구조의 확대를 나아가는 단계에 해당하는 건축이다. |

This study set out to identify the architectural features inherent in Nesting Boxes by Larry Bell, whose analysis had been poor in previous
studies, and compare and analyze them with contemporary architecture by applying the object relations theory representing modern
psychoanalysis of the 21st century to the gaze theory. The findings were as follows: first, ‘Pacific Red II’ one of his early Nesting Boxes,
created several key Signifiants by repeating various eyes between six large-scale objects and the audience, thus expanding the conscious
structure of human mind; second, the number of objects was reduced to two in ‘Venice Fog II’ that introduced sunlight. In ‘Aspen Blues’,
the object inside the Nesting Boxes plays the role of projection as inner light in reaction to the introjection of sunlight; third, the Nesting
Boxes since ‘Pacific Red II’ show the process of expanding from a single mother to other objects and moving away from a depressive
position from the perspective of object relations theory; and finally, ‘Kunsthaus Bregenz’ by Peter Zumthor is at the stage of expanding the
structure of human mind around an independent ego beyond a depressive position like ‘Aspen Blues’.7R1A2B1002847).” |
