(Background and Purpose) Certification criteria and the installation criteria of convenience facilities in each facility. Therefore, this study aims to provide a variety of reference materials for design planning in the future based on a barrier-free space to investigate and analyze the current status of the installation of internal facilities in the elementary school design plan. (Method) First, the concept and types of barrier-free spaces in elementary schools are analyzed through the related literature surveys, and the research trends and analyses of facilities are examined. Second, data such as architectural outlines, design concepts, and various drawings of each building for national elementary schools are collected, and the types of barrier-free spaces in elementary schools are analyzed. Third, the types of and the correlation among barrier-free spaces in the case of elementary schools in South Korea are revealed. Fourth, by analyzing elementary school plans, a comprehensive analysis of barrier-free spaces is derived to examine the current status of interior facilities installation in the barrier-free space of current design. (Results) The proposal of the installation space will have to be considered with regard to planning (e.g., an additional installation of convenience facilities). The proposal to install the horizontal moving space should be complemented with an active safety device by implementing the measures of heterogeneity and dissimilarity on the floor finish. Conversely, dispersal of the vertical movement lines could be considered for the proposal to install vertical movement space in the barrier-free space. (Conclusion) By analyzing the study of the entry space, horizontal movement space, and vertical movement space, and focusing on the interior facility space, the following conclusions were made. First, even though the general entrance is well-planned as the entry of the barrier-free space, it needs to be considered in a plan that additionally installs convenience facilities such as those with necessary handles. Second, although the corridors suggested as the horizontal movement spaces for barrier-free spaces are well-equipped, active safety devices should be installed due to the detail elements or floor division. Third, although the proposal for a barrier-free vertical movement space is well-planned for the stairs, it is rarely planned for the ramps; therefore, having a plan to add various ramps to move between the floors seems to be necessary. Lastly, in the case of the elevator, it was concluded that there should be an arrange of the elevator in a space where it is divided into two or more rather than installed in one space if the space is divided where the teachers are using. |
