This study examines the effects of layouts of lighting fixtures to users¡¯ satisfaction in a private office space. Four lighting designs alternatives were applied to an office space to provide a required target illuminance for office tasks. The evaluations for lighting alternatives were conducted by 27 participants using the images of office projected on a screen in a classroom. Results imply that the space was evaluated as most spacious, when recessed quadrate fixtures were applied to ceiling. The satisfaction level for light distribution was most positive when recessed rectangular fixtures were placed across the views of participants. The area sources of lighting fixtures were effective for better perception of satisfaction for lighting environment, light distribution, visual comfort and the quality of lighting for space. The linear prediction models for the influential elements of lighting conditions were acceptable at a significance level of 0.01. The perception of visual comfort, quality of lighting and preference for lighting conditions correlated with several influential factors of light controlled by the layout of fixtures. |
