Public space has changed with social and cultural changes. In the past, public space meant a space that satisfied 'public ownership, public access, and public purpose', but not now. The Starfield Library or Apple Store, which we recognize as a public space, is clearly private, but these spaces function as contemporary public spaces. The atmosphere of the Apple store is different from theme parks or shopping malls, the other flagship stores. As a public space, the features of the Apple Store are; First, there are no obstacles(except for clear glass) in the process of entering the interior. Second, various activities(such as sale, lecture, seeing etc) are combined to feel the atmosphere of the plaza. Third, it expresses high-tech by using glass and aluminium, and it creates a comfortable and pleasant environment with wood. |
