¿ä¾à2 The disabled have faced many difficulties with respect to both their physical and mental disabilities that inference their daily lives. Considering this, there is a growing need to develop user customized housing units that reflect the need associated with the living conditions of them, especially due to the fact that the majority of their time in everyday living is spent at their homes. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to identify planning elements of small scale community housing for the disabled. In doing so, a user participated planning method was applied whereby small group based workshops were opened to enable participants to engage in discussion and come to an agreement on the relevant items. The subjects of this study included a group of parents with children having developmental disorders, a group of parents with children having cerebral disorders and a group of persons who provide home care services. The results of this study should that open areas that allow ease of movement within spaces, high-utility storage spaces and a minimal amount of living commodities were in-demand within individual housing unit spaces. In forming housing unit clusters, a small number of neighboring households was found to be in demand. In the case of community living spaces, the study found that spaces that enable social exchange and spaces in which multi-functional activities can be pursued were in demand. In the case of community work spaces, there were different opinions on the interest levels of the disabled from complete strangers whereby some expressed an interest in greater interaction with their local communities while others expressed an interest to remain exclusive. A variety of compositions that fit the various needs of the community spaces were found to be in demand with regard to the overall shaping of a community.
