In the context of contemporary architecture which has various interests in regeneration and efforts to revive local identity are being expressed, this paper attempts to understand regionalism and its applicability through the works of Peter Zumthor as a good example. In order to examine the trends of regionalism and representative theories, this paper takes critical regionalism in the 1980s and regenerative regionalism in 2010 at intervals of 30 years after the new regionalism in the 1950s. I've tried to find valid elements of regionalism in contemporary architecture. In the process, first, Kenneth Frampton's critical regionalism characteristics that are summarized by Fredric Jameson (Tectonic, place, and tactility) can be the basis of the regenerative regionalism that Steven A. Moore argues, which analyzes and reflects modern social structures. In addition to these three factors, I've made the framework of analysis with the viewpoint of democratic production ? reproduction of regenerative regionalism and analyzed Peter Zumthor's works with it. His work shows the concept of democratic production ? reproduction as a characteristic of regenerative regionalism and the modern trend of regionalism that can be found by reflecting the tendency of modern regionalism to a high level. |
