It is advantageous to install the blinds on the outside in order to improve energy efficiency of the buildings and to provide a favorable visual comfort. However, if the blind is not controlled depending on external weather conditions, it will adversely affect view to the outside and building energy consumption. This study developed a louver system composed of spectrally selective coated glazing that can reduce the solar heat radiation gain while keeping the daylighting and view. The study performed comparative experiments of the louver system with four systems (clear glazing, single low-e glazing, clear glazing with internal blind, clear glazing with external blind). The results show that application of the spectrally selective louver system led to the lowest room and surfaces temperature rise as compared to the other four systems. |
