¿ä¾à2 Noise transmission between households is one of the typical noise sources interfering quiet residential environment. In order to reduce annoyance due to the transmitted noise, the wall between households needs to satisfy the acceptable level of sound insulation on relevant regulations. A masonry wall is one of the structure installed between households. And it is important to suggest the wall structures with different finishing methods which can secure high sound insulation performance in the field. In this study, sound insulation of the wall structures according to finishing methods were examined by considering workmanship and construction conditions in a laboratory. For the wall constructed only with concrete brick and mortar in good workmanship, the result showed 50(-3) dB in Rw(C) for the single layer, while 50(-3) dB in Rw(C) for the double layer with air cavity. However, a significant decrease by 9 dB ~ 12 dB in Rw(C) was found for the same wall structures with slits. For the walls finished with plasterboard, sound insulation was 48(-1) dB ~ 53(-2) dB in Rw(C), also the wall structure with glass wool and plasterboard show 59(-4) dB ~ 63(-6) dB in Rw(C). In conclusion, when the masonry wall is constructed, it is necessary to finish with plastering work or plasterboards to ensure sound insulation performance. And sound absorbing materials can be used for higher sound insulation performance of a masonry wall between households.
