¿ä¾à2 (Research Background) Glass is a commonly used material in architecture, decoration, and life props. Glass used to have a symbolic meaning in the past due to its lack of processing and material characteristics that transmit light. Entering to the industrial age, glass production increased, and glass began to be manufactured in factories, improving its quality. As glass transmits and blocks light at the same time, it has been used as both functional and decorative elements in architecture. As the quality of glass got better, the portion of windows on walls became wider, and called a "glass curtain wall." The question is whether glass is being used in a special way, and this question started this research. Commonly found materials but use as different ways, commonly used glass, add new function and enhance of utilization for create new experience values. (Method) In this study, architectural projects that have used glass in unique ways and the technical trend of transparent displays were researched to propose a new design direction and BM. History of displays, current technologies, technological trends through patents were researched, and based on the data collected and the trend direction of the transparent displays, design and BM proposals were made. A case analysis of glass, architectural glass, and structures that feature glass were conducted. Based on these fields, the SWOT analysis framework aimed to analyze the effect of glass in transparent displays, and was used to propose effective applications of transparent displays and specific BM. (Result) Glass can be expressed in various images according to the angle of light transmitted. Space designed by glass can also project images that reflect the surrounding areas, thereby creating a sense of awe and grandeur. The exterior walls and internal structures, and the glass space itself, can be the image of a brand. Also, the effects of glass space can tempt people's visual curiosity and hold their gaze and interest. (Conclusion) Transparent displays ensure people's eyes and attention are secure. It can also create experience values that lead to the promotion of advertising and behavior. Given new forms and styles of transparent displays of spaces, such as a pop-up store or a moving store or shop, the effects of advertising effectiveness and forces are also expected to be enormous. These types of transparent displays are expected to be used in many areas, regardless of space and location. Based on this study, we propose to complement the new ways of transparent display and to suggest better design direction and applications.
