The purpose of the study is to evaluate environment of patient's rooms in women's hospitals, and thus to explore any improvements and furnish data for it. On the basis of literature review on relating references and previous studies, the characteristics for the analysis of wards' environment were categorized into the following seven: comfort, aesthetic, safety, nature-friendliness, privacy, familiarity, and mutual communication. The results are as follows: Temperature, humidity, and ventilation of the rooms were found to be good, but use of sound-absorbing materials and local illumination were found to be insufficient. Use of soft colors and finishing materials were found to be good, but aesthetic furniture and artworks were found to be insufficient. Infection prevention and safety related to emergency were found to be good, but safety related to accident prevention was found to be inadequate. In many cases, shared rooms did not have sufficient number of windows in comparison with their areas. This was because regulatory standards about window extent of patient's room was inadequate in comparison with those of advanced nations. Therefore, the relevant regulations will need to be reconsidered. |
