The role of regional community and the importance of residents' participation have become increasingly critical in the process of urban regeneration. Moreover, in the case of provincial towns based on traditional strong communities, it is particularly important to reflect the views and opinions of local residents. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the perspective of residents on the revitalization of old downtown by the survey of their perceptions as a part of the 'environmental design support project of homeland' on Gangjin-gun. As a result, the fundamental approach including creative contents and programs is required for the local economy instead of the general townscape improvement. And this also should contribute to the welfare and everyday life of residents. In addition, we were able to categorize the residents by residence and compare the results of cognition during this analysis. There was a delicate difference between people's positions and, in fact, more of an effort for coordinating an agreement is needed in most regeneration projects because differences of interest have caused the conflict or exclusion between the residents. Therefore, various kind of education programs or reduced pilot project can be used. However, by categorizing the residents in more detailed level, we could recognize the potential of cognition survey as a substantial mean, before that, to examine the positions of various interested parties, promote understanding of their opinions and views, and mediate differences between them. |
