Public rental housing is for the socially vulnerable, and protects human rights and equivalence in modern society. The housing is supported by government and provided with minimum space planning according to economic value. Recently in the developed country, social recognition for public rental housing changes to healthy environment with benefits and effects. Active Design Guideline(ADG) is published and disseminated in New York, USA and with this public rental housing planning and remodeling design is changing. The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of applied ADG for the 11 remodeling projects. This research analyzed 11 remodeling cases applied for public rental housing. As results, the cases consider diverse type of resident for their physical activity, especially, encourage climbing stairs and planning activity spaces in the center of the buildings. Also, this residents¡¯ activity could be improved by elements of stimulation, such as window, signage, music and so on. The visibility issue in remodeling plans was an important factor for interactive environment. The active design cases promote not only physical health but also social health. This research is significant for future paradigm change. |
