Due to the global interests and concerns in environmental issues, there have been a wide range of researches in sustainable building planning and design, and HPBE(High Performance Building Envelope) system is one of the most popularly discussed topics in the realm. However, the preceding studies mainly focused on the technical aspects and functionalities of the building envelope system itself, and there has been very little research on design thinking and the sustainable facade design process. Therefore, this study explores diverse design principles and theoretical backgrounds based on recent researches and design precedents regarding HPBE systems and material technologies, and examines how the diverse system technologies are integrated into the building envelope design and interior space planning. In particular, focusing on applications of design principles and elements of HPBE to actual design schemes and the decision-making process, this study provides a theoretical foundation and practical guidelines on the integrated design methodologies in which technical and aesthetic aspects are linked and integrated with each other. |
