An object in a modern space serves the role of changing the ever-morphing image of the space and further highlighting its nature through diverse methods of expression. Also, as the consumers' demands become diverse due to advance technical developments and enhancement of consumer awareness, objects appear in forms that are combined with new media as well as nonmaterial objects, i.e. non-visual expressions. According to this social atmosphere, a new cultural phenomenon called funology that can satisfy both creative technology and emotional needs has emerged, and objects that have the properties of funology (hereinafter, funology objects) are being utilized in diverse space. Thus, the objectives of this study are to understand the definition of the funological objet within modern space settings, to analyze the method of expression based on the eight types of objet characteristics within space as classified through analyzing previous research, and to deduce the spatial characteristics by applying the three characteristic categories ? formal, functional, and emotional ? to each case of interior space. Based on this, six spaces were selected including commercial space, exhibition space, installation art, etc., in which funology objects are utilized as cases and by applying the above concepts to the cases, the methods of expression and the spatial characteristics of utilizing funology objects in a space are presented in a comprehensive manner. In conclusion, morphologically, a space in which funology objects are utilized had a high level of attractiveness that drew people's attention and stimulated imagination and functionally, it provided visual pleasure and a novel experience by producing a variable and dynamic space through movement. Furthermore, emotionally, sensory experiences such as romance, fantasy, emotions, etc. were provided through diverse media. By reflecting this characteristic, we can satisfy the sensibility of the modern public and expect strategic space where people want to stay that can stimulate curiosity through images differentiated from other space. |
