Due to the rapid advancement of an aged society trend, nationwide distribution of elderly care facilities is distinctive and this phenomenon has been represented by typical communal facilities such as nursing homes and elderly communal houses. In this study, we examined the current status and potential future improvements of silver care facilities through the site surveys as well as the interviews with the staffs who are responsible for the operational management of the chosen elderly care facilities in Daejeon, Korea. Selected target facilities belong to the long-term care institutions and showed typical features and characteristics in terms of their primary spatial features and operational details including legal restrictions imposed upon similar facilities in the nation. This study identified current situation of those general silver care facilities through an in-depth analysis of the two selected facilities in an effort of attempting to derive an future improvement. |
