The purpose of this study is to provide a morphological taxonomy of kinetic facade systems and to analyze the characteristics by case studies to research the possible applications. The kinetic facade systems are distinguished between dynamic operable structure, kinetic screen and operable surface. The dynamic operable structure works with a monolithic translation or rotational movement within the main structure. The kinetic screen reveals a myriad of activities in accordance of surrounded environments. The operable surface shows explicit transformation of external skin by various stimulus. |
