¿ä¾à2 This is a study focused on Hegel's aesthetic influence appeared in Berlage's architecture. Berlage shows his architectural ideas based on the aesthetic theory with a complicated historical background in the end of 19th century. The Berlage's architectural idea is a feature of the 'comprehensive trend' which is strongly recognized the Zeitgeist and the meaning of modernity. Berlage draws the architectural idea called 'Unity in Diversity' from aesthetic ideas, especially through those of Hegel. This study focuses on Hegel's influence and Berlage's architectural idea revealed through his two works, 'The Amsterdam Stock Exchange' and 'The Hague Municipal Museum. ' In a word, Berlage struggles to shows his architectural ideas of the 'comprehensive trend' which he recognizes the meaning of the modernity even in the conflicted situation of historicism and new architecture at that time.
