본 연구는 구 청주읍성 일대인 성안동을 중심으로 대형필지의 변화과정을 살펴본 것으로, 필지의 형상 면에서는 예전 모습을 그대로 존치하고 있는 경우, 분할 및 합필한 경우로 대별되나, 기능적 역할에서는 대부분 시대적 흐름에 따라 변경되고 있음을 볼 수 있었다. 대형필지의 형상을 그대로 존치하고 있는 경우는 예전 주요 관아들이 입지하였던 동헌. 객사영역과 병영영역이다. 이들 중 동헌영역은 현재까지 청사로 이용되고 있으나, 객사영역은 백화점, 병영영역은 공원, 남문 밖 외영은 교회 등으로 기능 변경되었다. 기존 관아의 부속 청사인 녹방, 장청, 작청 및 감옥 등이 입지하였던 대형필지는 도로개설을 통한 상행위가 활발하게 이루어지면서, 행정 및 금융관료들의 관사와 사택이 조성되면서 이들을 중심으로 필지분할이 활발하게 이루어졌다. 이외에 합필하여 대형필지를 조성하는 예는 예전 사창영역의 개별 필지들을 합병한 우편국과 청주면. 읍. 시청사에서 나타났지만, 근대기에 접어들면서 금융 및 상업건축물의 입지를 선정하면서 새롭게 대형필지가 조성되었다. 이처럼 청주읍성 일대의 대형필지들은 존치되거나, 필지의 세 분할이 이루어졌어도, 원필지의 형상을 그대로 유지하면서 예전의 도시공간구조를 그대로 전해주고 있었으며, 기능적 역할 면에서도 대형필지의 형상을 유지하고 있는 경우에는 공적 영역으로서의 역할을 지속적으로 하고 있음을 보여주고 있다. |

This study aims to clarify the transformation of large scale lots around old castle in Cheong-ju city. Transformation of large scale lots is classified into maintained, subdivided & destroyed, and combined lots in shape. The maintained large scale lots are almost found in the location of the traditional government office buildings in Cheongju Castle, namely those of Gaek-Sa(客舍). Donghun(東軒)'s and Byungyoung(兵營) Group's region. Donghun's region of them still functions as a government office building, but the others are changed into the central park, department, and church. The subdivided large scale lots are found in the location of the other separate government office buildings which supports the main buildings. They are actively formed by the busy street, road construction, and housing complex development for official and company. The large scale combined lots were previously found in the location of post office and city hall, and they are represented with the appearance of financial and commercial buildings in modern age. As such, although all these transformations of large scale lots are used to enhance urban spatial structure, the old lot-systems have remained in the original shape and sustained as public spaces in the function around old castle in Cheongju city. |
