A village is the earliest settlement of human civilization. Traditional village is a major component of the regional cultures and folk customs. Traditional village heritage is typical of the material remains of the community, which keeps strong historical and cultural values, and also has a strong typicality and representation of the heritage. In order for in-depth discussions and analyses, this study analyzes the status of ethnic minority villages which are traditionally settled and distributed in Guangxi region. Researches would cover followings: 1) Traditional villages in Guangxi have obvious density differences, and the core gathering areas are more prominent with larger influence of geographical environment factors. 2) Distribution of the villages is obviously different by area: more traditional villages in Guilin, Liuzhou, Hezhou and other northeastern region. Number of such villages would be more according to the officvial pulication of the National Directory of Traditional Villages. This study analyzes the problems of their current status, and put forward reasonable proposals on the traditional villages in the minority race communities. Their future will depend on how effective the protection program would be. |
