The demand for energy efficiency around the world is increasing throughout the new and existing buildings. Among various policy measures, Korean government introduced a Building energy efficiency rating and certification system that evaluate the energy performance and give a rating for buildings based on the calculated energy consumptions. However, since energy performance rating is usually conducted based on the calculated energy consumptions, it could not estimate the actual energy consumptions which was taken account of the lifestyle of the occupants. Accordingly, the level of public awareness for this system is not so high because there is less information on the practical effect of the system. In this paper, to raise awareness of the system and address the direction of the evaluation method, the actual consumptions were compared with the calculated energy ratings in accordance with the system. First, tendencies in energy consumption was investigated according to the building design factors about certified residential buildings. The relationship between actual energy consumptions and certification ratings were compared, and then the causes of differences were analyzed. |
