The purpose of this study is to analyze yearly heating and cooling load for the ward area of large hospitals in two metropolitan cities, Seoul at the central region and Busan at the southern region in Korea. Since an initial design stage is considered as an important part of building design in reducing energy consumption, this study develops OpenStudio models to calculate energy load in the initial design stage, while mainly focusing on 37 building orientations in four plan types such as type -, type T, type L, and type Y. Based on the results of the OpenStudio simulation models, this study suggests that the best plan type at each orientation case which decreases energy load for the ward area. On the basis of a southward direction, the study indicates that the yearly heating and cooling loads vary from 100.57% to 101.75% at the central region and from 100.86% to 102.29% at the southern region. |
