본 연구는 영웅신화적 구조의 분리-전이-통합이란 과정에 주목하여 사찰건축의 배치와 공간 구성의 의미를 참례자들의 공간경험을 따라 고찰하였다. 사찰건축은 불교우주론이 반영되어 지상에 불국토가 실현된 것을 상징하며 깨달음을 얻고자 하는 과정은 영웅이 진리를 찾아 모험을 떠나 귀환하는 구조처럼 수미산 정상을 향한 상징적 모험, 등반으로 이해될 수 있기 때문이다. 영웅신화적 활약을 펼친 부처가 세속에서 분리되어 고행을 겪은 후 깨달음을 얻고 귀환해 중생구제에 힘쓴 과정이 참례자가 부정의 세상에서 벗어나 진입공간을 지나 불전에서 부처를 만나고 수행공간을 체험하는 사찰의 공간구성에 상응되는 것으로 파악된다. 신화구조로 사찰건축의 배치와 공간구성의 의미를 고찰한 결과 사찰건축은 공간의 분절과 정화의 분리단계, 불국토가 전개되는 깨달음의 전이단계, 실천과 수행의 통합과 귀환단계로 구성되는 회귀구조를 갖는다고 할 수 있다. |

The purpose of this study is to consider the meaning of the layout of traditional Buddhist temple based on the structure of heroic mythology. Since Buddhist temple symbolized the Buddhist land which reflected the Sumeru Mount cosmology, and the process of attaining the spiritual enlightnment is appreciated as the symbolic climbing Sumeru Mount as like the hero renounces the world for truth and overcomes the difficulties, returns home with success. Buddhist temple throughout the structure of heroic mythology is composed with the separation phase of spacial articulation and purification, transition phase of spiritual awakening, incorporation phase of practice asceticism, and has the recurrent structure which forsake the world and seek after truth, get a practice asceticism, and return to formal world. |
