The city center areas are organic and complex, contain authenticity and city identity, produce, consume, and reproduce the citizen-culture. In this point of view, the regression of city center areas is caused by ¡®cultural maladaption¡¯ derived from unstable spatial culture and ¡®failure of planning¡¯, not merely a result of physical and economic coditions. The creative revitalization of the city centers indicates that factors such as culture, economy, and sense of place make a virtuous circle and new values of the post-metropolitan urbanism successively. City centers might be revitalized into 'the lifestyle hub' reinforcing the social capital based urban resilience which is made up with the actualization of public realms and publicity, making the third place and the network system by the urban design strategies. Alternatives for the change of the urban structure and the field study are next on the agenda. |
