Analysing the drawings of ¡®My Desirable House to Live¡¯ Drawing Competition in 2014 Jeonlabuk-do Architectural Festival, this research tries to understand what the characteristics of ideal house and dwelling environment are to elementary school students. According to the statistical survey, a total of 208 participants took part in the competition, they were composed of 72.6% of female students, 69.8% of lower grades and 75.0% of apartment residents. The gap between lower and higher grades is very effective and higher grades picked frequently the real theme. Firstly, The form of ideal house is a gabled single house located in the rural areas. Secondly, ideal dwellings are completed by a natural court, play ground and equipment. The court filled with the representative elements such as trees, greens and water space has a main role in the drawings. Children emphasize the importance of their play. They express the sense of convenience through the equipments such as furniture, fabric, mechanical electrical system. Lastly, family or friends, pets including me means also the house. Paradoxically, the analysis produces a result exactly opposite to its reality. Although children are very keen to be influenced by environment, they can¡¯t take the lead in decision of dwelling. So, specialists have to design a space on the basis of this conclusion. If parents have an elementary school child, it is necessary to let him experience an ideal space. |
