Overseas countries¡¯ government and facility management industry make efforts to utilize the precise and fluent data from Building Information Modeling (BIM) in the Facility Management (FM). In this circumstances, International Organization for Standard and British Standard Institution have published the standards of FM thus, few systems and programs have been developed and applied in the whole life-cycle of the building. However, it is insufficient in research and system utilizing the BIM information to the design and construction phase rather than using them in the operation and maintenance phase of the building in Korea. In this research, the definition, the scope, the object and, the process of FM were identified first by analyzing the British Standard Series of BS EN 15221. The BIM road-map for FM of UK was compared with the one of Korea for the next step. Finally, we figured out the points needed to be improved to encourage BIM utilization in the domestic facility management industry. It is expected to contribute to the activation of using BIM for FM in Korea following the international standard. |
