In Korean apartment buildings, internal insulation system is usually applied, so the layer of insulation is disconnected due to structural component at wall-slab and wall-wall joints in envelope and results in thermal bridges. To prevent condensation, typically supplementary sub-slab or wall insulation are applied on thermal bridges occurrence. In case of external insulation system, it prevents thermal bridges by insulating the building structure externally, therefore, it requires no needs of a supplementary insulation. In this study, the condensation resistance performance was evaluated to compare internal insulation system with supplementary insulation and external insulation system by three dimensional steady state simulation. |
