It is pointed out that university campus in our country has such problems as closed, isolated, dispersive and self-contained problems rather than ties and fusion with neighboring area. Therefore, diversified discussions have been made recently in order to break from isolated and closed campus. Among the discussions, especially campuses in downtown area, there is a rising interest in university space plan to have sustainable and cooperative relationships with regional communities through border expansion and integration. However, it seems that researches conducted up to now have interpreted university space plan only on an extension of conceptual frame of a campus style, and they make relevant discussions monotonous with much limited breadth. Accordingly, this thesis selected Berkeley and Dongguk University in order to determine use of pattern of university space different from campus during the process of expanding borders and being integrated with communities, and based on this, it intended to find out that various patterns of selective use can be analogous reference point for university space plan possible for integration with local communities. |
