As the recent tendency towards the concept of the role and function of museums is changing from administrator-centered to visitor-centered and the importance of museums not only as the treasure houses for sharing and providing information to the public but also as the entertaining places of culture and leisure gain more power, the need and value of children's museums as entertaining places for families rather than children only is reconsidered. This part needs further intensified research on empirical factors of visitors' behavioral patterns which have been overlooked while establishing museums as exhibition spaces only and as preschoolers who show high frequency of visitorship have to be accompanied by their parents, the importance of mutual interaction cannot be underestimated at all. In this paper, the mutual interaction between visiting children and their accompanying guardians is considered to be a lynchpin factor to boost viewing effect and satisfaction and therefore the patterns of escorted visitation was observed and its correlation with visitors' satisfaction was studied. As expected, among accompanied visitation patterns, visitation pattern with close contact showed most frequency, in which case, highly frequent mutual interaction occurred and it eventually affected viewing satisfaction as well. This study has a significant meaning in that it serves as the fundamental research work which suggests the necessity for establishing children's museum in consideration of mutually interactive visitors' behavior and, through this research, the need for further continuous research was confirmed. |
