The level and period of daylight in a indoor space is useful information for predicting the visible comfort and energy saving of each unit. The factors of the elevation design decide the daylighting performance in real because the envelope of the building works as the filter that the sunlight and solar heat pass through. Moreover, the indoor environmental conditions vary according to the location and story of each dwelling due to the fact that the shadow effect becomes different depending on the distance between buildings and the direction of the building. For this research, the 'daylight autonomy' and the 'daylight factor' of daylight performance metrics were calculated with Daysim. According to the simulation of Daysim, the average Daylight Autonomy, maximum daylight autonomy and the daylight factor above 2% show the usability of daylight without the artificial lighting. The paper presents an window design of the apartment facade design by applying the basic unit with varied window-to-floor ratio. The main results focused on finding the better WFR and deducing the design in order to make a rational design related to the daylighting performance of each dwelling. |
