Mat-buidling was first shown in 1974 article 'How to recognize and read mat-building.' by Alison Smithson. She summarized some characteristics of mat-building and listed various projects that can be though as mat-building among projects by team 10. There have been some of research, in recent years for the interest by contemporary architects, such as Rem Koolhaas, Kajuyo Sejima, MVRDV. However many of research was studied according special interest, so they lacks the total perspective about organization, concept and the connection between those two. This thesis will summarize key concepts and characteristics o mat-building based on previous researches and make an supplement to them. Eventually it will aim to find the problems and limits of mat-building. |
