To meet the korean insulation standard, the thickness of regular insulation material has to be very thick. Insulation paint can help to decrease the thickness of insulation material. For this reason, insulation paint is being sold in korea. However, there is not enough study regarding insulation paint. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to compare thermal performance between the general paint and insulation paint. Scale models were made for analysis of surface temperature distribution, and test pieces were made for reflectance and emissivity test. Test result reveals that an insulation paint has fairly high emissivity and solar reflectance such as conventional white paint, which can be a good finishing material of roof area for cooling load reduction. Regarding the thermal conductivity of insulation paint, quite good improvement can be expected due to the vacuum layer of ceramic microsphere. |
