Due to the current increase in one-person households there is much interest in this topic. A considerable part of it are the rising problems with student housing. The housing options near the universities often cannot support a student's lifestyle. In order to increase the students' productivity and creativity, to develop their problem-solving abilities, it is important to focus on providing them with both a suitable living and lighting environment. Thus this study's purpose is to analyze the current state of one-person housing, to investigate the students' lighting and space preferences and to suggest a design direction for development of housing for university students. First, the students' housing preferences and needs should be analyzed. Second, the students' lifestyle and characteristics should be analyzed with interior lighting as focus. And third, a suitable living environment for students should be designed by applying these. The used methods for this study were literature analysis and conducting a survey with 100 students as the target group. The survey questions focused on the facilities needed by the students in the private and community space, the students' lifestyle and their use of space and on their preferences of interior lighting. |
