This study aims to analyse and review the characteristics and trend of the External Finishing Material in Modern low-rise Commercial Buildings built since 1970s in Changwon. Changwon is located in central region of Gyeongnam and recently unified by three cities of Changwon, Masan, and Jinhae. Spatial scope of this study is the low-rise commercial buildings area which are located in Sangnam-dong(Sungsan-gu), Hapsung- dong(Huiwon-gu), Youngwon-dong(Jinhae-gu). For this purpose, it was selected and surveyed representative three commercial streets, and categorized external finishing materials of low-rise commercial buildings in them. Results of this study are as follows; First, use of external finishing materials was revealed to change periodically and in 1970s and 1980s, red brick and tile were used. From 1990s, steel panel were used and early in the 2000s, stone materials has been used increasingly. Recently many materials are being used to mix diversely. Second, use of external finishing materials was differentiated by three areas. In Sangnam-dong of dense merrymaking shops for adult, type of external finishing materials was simple. But Hapsung-dong was old and deteriorated area, it was surveyed to be many external finishing tiles. Recently, tiles as external finishing materials was used rarely and it was not found in most areas. Youngwon-dong was characterized by high rate of restaurant, and rate of stone materials use was very high relative to other two areas. Third, architectural trend was revealed to affect use of external finishing materials. In 1980s, many low-rise commercial buildings in three areas was affected by post modernism, and as a result of it, diverse materials like as brick, tile, and glass were begun to use. From 1990s, high tech architecture style was affected to low-rise commercial buildings in Changwon, and materials like as steel panel, glass and stainless steel etc. began to use. |
