With the quality of lives improved and various cultural activities increased, the museums have become easily seen. As such, this study aims to examine the expressional characteristics of four museums that were built in Japan by Yoshio Taniguchi In a process of the formation of museums that have the local meaning. In addition, in analyzing his works, common characteristics were compared and analyzed through the views of place-form, tectonic and sensation that were the architectural expressional characteristics of the critical regionalism drawn from theoretical consideration of Kenneth Frampton's critical regionalism. The architectural characteristics of Yoshio Taniguchi from the view of the architectural expressional characteristics of the critical regionalism are as follows: First, it is a concept of 'Za', the traditional Japanese method of the space composition, and composes the space that reveals historical elements attached to the location. Second, the geometric forms and organic traffic lines are implemented through a combination of physical and mental elements. Third, the formativeness of architecture is completed through the accumulation of research on detail, design, and construction methods with the richness of the properties that material provides. Also senses are expressed by representing rich properties through harmony with the surrounding environment. In this study, the relationship of museums of Yoshio Taniguchi with the critical regionalism was revealed through the review and analysis of the architectural expressional characteristics of the critical regionalism. |
