Phthalates are industrial chemicals with a wide range of applications. Phthalates are primarily used as plasticizers mixed into polymers like PVC to increase flexibility and workability. According to a previous study by foreign researchers, SVOCs like phthalates ester that have a high boiling point tend to attach o the surface of furniture and house dust instead of floating in the air, and deposit in indoors. PVC sheets are used a lot of as building materials in Korea. Therefore, this study aims to survey phthalates concentration in house dust and the amount of dust settled in houses in Korea and tested the emission rates of phthalates released from building materials by using micro chamber. |
