For reduction of CO2 in construction industry, recently high volume fly ash concrete has been used as a substitute for Portland cement. The using of high volume fly ash has many advatages on fresh, hardened and durability properties. One clear disadvantage in use of high volume fly ash is that the replacement of cement decreases rate of early strength development of concrete. In this study, the early hydration of high volume fly ash paste was investigated with chemical admixtures and different size distribution of fly ash particles. From the test results, the rate of early strength development can be increased by using chemical accelerator and fine fly ash. |
