¿ä¾à2 The purpose of this paper is to propose the optimization process that the envelope thermal performance of free-form buildings at early stage in the design process. So, this study performs geometric modeling of the example of the free-form buildings by using parametric design method(PDM), and mesh generate base on using finite element mothod(FEM). The information of the geometric is extracted from divided mesh generated by the FEM tool. The design variables of the thermal load prediction model are transformed by the geometric information. And then, this study performed the process of the genetic algorithm(GA) for the purpose of minimizing the envelope load of the free-form buildings. It was found that the proposed GA based process is able to quickly optimize the thermal load of a free-form building within about 20% of decrease, compared with initial form thermal loads. The designer can be used in the envelope design of free-form buildings by the parametric design method which give effect of each parameter on energy conservative free-form buildings.
