With increasing social demands for energy efficiency, research on zero-energy buildings has accelerated recently. The concept of ¡®zero energy¡¯ differs by country or institution due to differences in points of view and a general consensus has yet to be reached. However, they all share the basic idea of reducing a building¡¯s energy consumption to zero, thus rendering outside energy supply unnecessary. In the field of housing, houses have already appeared whose yearly energy use is zero, however, commercial buildings have diverse forms and high energy use and therefore it is expected that such requires a different approach from houses. On the other hand, with respect to building energy consumption, Korea, using the ECO2 program, is operating a ¡®building energy efficiency-rating validation program¡¯. This study conducted reviews on the energy consumption of office buildings using the ECO2 program and suggests technical standards for major energy reduction at each energy consumption stage. |
