Alvaro Siza sensuously transforms his own experiences and memories and applies to architectural design. He tries to consider the experiences and scenes that visitors would have. Through his word, "I need to be able to imagine the sequence of spaces...to walk as a visitor, the owner", we can understand the importance of spatial sequence and flow in his design. The question of this study is how Siza makes the spatial sequence and which strategies are used. After analyzing in two elements as framework of analysis, visual perception of people and spatial relationship, Siza's spatial sequence that focused on the experiences of visitors is different from that of modern architecture though the formative characteristics are similar. |
