This study was motivated by the fact that elderly problems are not only problem for themselves, they are the problems for all members of society, it is necessary to analyze and compare the awareness on welfare systems among the generations. The purpose of this study was to provide basic data to be useful suggestions to have a correct view and to form positive images on welfare facility for the future reference. The results are as follows. 1) Perceptions on senior citizens are normally negative from their physical appearance, and be thought as unproductive and alienated in the society. However, perceptions on their psychological characters are more likely to be positive than the physical ways. Those who are well-educated tend to have positive images on seniors, and those who are Christians have positive perception on elders’ physical characters. 2) Most people have heard something about senior welfare facilities; however, they are unlikely to know specifically. 3) There are differences by age groups on whether their parents, grandparents or themselves would likely to move into senior welfare facilities. Teenage group showed lower awareness level even than the standard value. On the question which they would offer their parents or grandparents to welfare facility, maturity group answered the most positively, and on the question which themselves would move into welfare facility, maturity group and the middle age group answered affirmatively. |
