The purposes of this study were to analyze elderly residents' needs of ubiquitous home services according to the demographic characteristics and housing characteristics, to find out ubiquitous home services for development of the elderly friendly residential environment. For this study, literature review, field works for ubiquitous home services for the elders, and 1 to 1 interview with questionnaire and illustration by 270 elderly participants were conducted. For questionnaire, 86 ubiquitous services were developed by using the result of the present possession of furniture and home electronic appliances in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do elderly residents, literature review and field works. The major findings of the study were as follows: The elderly residents' needs of ubiquitous services related with safety was high such as network and gas stove services. And needs of ubiquitous services related with internet services were low such as providing internet information and video home banking. |
