There is an increasing demand for better environment and high performance of office buildings. The blind systems have been introduced to provide visual and thermal comfort as well as to reduce energy use in buildings. The paper aims to investigate the influence of blind's slat control on energy use and indoor thermal comfort. As a simulation tool, EnergyPlus developed by DOE is utilized and PPD (Predicted Percentage of Dissatisfied) was used based on MRT (Mean Radiant temperature) near a window. It is shown that the impact of slat control on PPD and energy is surprisingly significant as well as controllability changes rapidly with hours of the day. |
