With the building is higher and higher, the stack effect is more and more remarkable. The stack effect accompanies many problems in high-rise building such as draft, troublesome in door opening, uncomfortable noise, contaminants diffusion, etc. In this study, the contaminant diffusion behaviors caused by stack effect in high-rise building was analyzed. The analysis was performed for high-rise residential building in Suwon, Korea. And the air movement, contaminant diffusion and contaminants concentration were analyzed with network simulation method. This simulation was accomplished by field measurement results. The results show that the contaminants moves with air movement which affected by stack effect. Also, the extent and rate of diffusion depend on the contaminant occurrence location and air flows in building. |
