This study aimed to examine the characteristics of housing environment, especially the change of housing lifestyle, by analyzing the actual needs of the residents and the conditions of using the residential space, through the research on the present situation of deteriorated apartment in city center. The object of study is Shin-Am apartment, which was built in 1971, when a number of apartments really started to be constructed in Daegu. The spatial features of Shin-Am apartment represent the residents' lifestyles of 1970s. As a result of the study, the characteristics of housing environment of the apartment are as follows; - the apartment has, to some large extent, maintained its original spatial features since 1971. - its spatial features reflect the lifestyle of 1970s. - the housing modification consists of three aspects. - future modification should be taken into account in design process of residential space, rather than simply assuming the original plan to be preserved. - the residents seek their residential stability in many ways, and the residential space and the residents'behaviors are somehow complementary to each other. |
