“Walking into nature” is a particular representative activity to learn nature by strolling down trails and observing nature. The concept of “walking into nature” is introduced because the construction of nature trails and walking paths for nature observation has increased in proportion to the growing population of those who enjoy trekking and outdoor activities. Nevertheless, there is no consent regarding general definitions of “walking into nature” and “trails for nature experience”. Moreover, methods do not exist yet to plan Local Nature trail. Trails for nature experiences are linear places to learn nature while walking paths. The most important factor is route planning after the planning of trails is done. Therefore, the goals of this study are to define the concept of trail, to develop a method of Local National Trail Networking, to formulate a method for suitability analyses of routes, and to verify the planning method by applying it to Gwacheon City, Korea. Unlike previous studies that were carried out mainly regarding the Local Nature Trail planning method for a trail network, the proposed route planning method consists of planning elements, a suitability analysis and a process to align the primary route. This method will be used generally during the process of making Local Nature Trail features and details may differ case by case. |
