The major objective of this study is to evaluate building energy performance of transparent thin-film BIPV windows that has visual characteristic as well as power generation. The energy consumption by application of PV windows and lighting control was estimated depending on orientation and WWR in office building. Windows applied in simulation were Blind, double PV and triple PV and power generation from PV assumed that its electricity use for lighting energy. As a result of simulation, it is disadvantageous to apply low transmitted PV window at the east that show high cooling energy consumption and low PV generation by lack of insolation. Lighting energy consumption was evaluated by dimming control in office building. Energy consumption decreased by growth of WWR except in the case of application of double PV window at the southeast and double PV and triple PV window at the east. Heat loss from increase of WWR was offset by energy reduction from dimming control and PV power generation. Energy reduction by lighting control and PV power generation is affected by PV area and its amount is determined by insolation. |
